ACT occupation list closed to oversas applicants

Less than a month after announcing that 34 occupations had been opened on its skills list to reflect a growing demand in the communications, construction, finance, hospitality and nursing sectors, the ACT has confirmed today the closure of its nomination prgram to overseas applicants.

Over the last 2 years, the ACT skilled migration program has given priority to Canberra residents working in skilled occupations or their immediate family living overseas who can demonstrate good employment prospects in the Territory and the program will remain open for ACT residents.

Migration Program Planning Level 2026/2027

The Australian government has left the 2026/2027 permanent migration program planning level at 185,000 places comprising of 70% for skilled workers and 30% for family applicants.
