Expression of Interest - Skilled (State/Territory Nominated) - 190

If you know where you would like to reside in Australia, Concept Australia recommends that you choose this visa class as you will automatically receive an invitation from SkillSelect to apply for a visa if you are nominated by a state or territory government.

 Expression of Interest

Following an initial appraisal by Concept Australia of your potential eligibility we will lodge an Expression of Interest (EOI) on your behalf via the Department of Immigration & Citizenship (DIAC) website.

There are many things to consider before you lodge an EOI but our experience and knowledge will ensure that you maximise your potential to receive an invitation to apply for a visa.

  • Which state or Territory do I wish to reside in
  • Can I satisfy nomination criteria (each state & territory is different)
  • Is my nominated occupation on the state or territory government skills list
  • Is my nominated occupation on the Skilled or Consolidated Skilled Occupation list
  • Do I have the potential to pass the points test
  • Will my skills & qualifications be recognised by the relevant assessing authority
  • Will I need to pass the IELTS test
  • Do I have relevant & recent work experience in my nominated occupation
  • Can I provide verifiable evidence of my employment history
  • Are there any health & character issues which could lead to refusal of my application
  • Have I got sufficient funds to transfer to Australia
All of these factors form an essential part of your visa plans so as to ensure that you’re chosen visa pathway is both achievable and realistic. Remember you cannot lodge an EOI unless you can meet all the visa requirements including the points test pass mark, a satisfactory skills assessment and (if applicable) IELTS test result.

It is also important to remember that, if invited to apply for a visa, the information you submit in your EOI will be used as part of your application. You are required to confirm your claims and submit evidence at the time you apply. The information you supply in your EOI must be correct. If the information you supply in your EOI is not correct there could be adverse consequences for your visa application.

Points test

Unless you have studied or worked in Australia, you will be assessed against the following factors in order to score sufficient points and reach the pass mark

  • Age
  • English Language
  • Qualifications & Skills
  • Relevant Work Experience
  • Spouse skills
  • Nomination by a State or Territory Government
Nomination by an Australian State or Territory Government

Applying to be nominated by an Australian State or Territory Government is a commitment to live and work in that state or territory for a period of 2 years.

Each State and Territory has its own skills list and selection criteria can vary in terms of approved occupations, planning levels, work experience and settlement funds.

Concept Australia recommends that you personally undertake research to demonstrate your knowledge and reasons for choosing the state or territory as a settlement location. Other factors which may be taken into consideration include close ties with family and friends, previous visits to the State/ Territory or positive interest from an employer.

You will receive an additional 5 points if applying for permanent residence or 10 points if applying to settle in a Regional Australia or low population growth metropolitan area of Australia (see visa subclass 489).

Free Assessment

Telephoning Concept Australia for a free and no obligation assessment means that you will not have to complete a questionnaire and provide countless answers to questions which are irrelevant to your own circumstances. You will, however, speak to an experienced and knowledgeable migration agent who will ask all the right questions to determine your potential eligibility. There is no charge for this service and you can rest assured that the advice provided will examine all visa pathways and options available to you.

If we have determined that you have the potential to be granted a visa to reside in Australia we will send an email to you confirming the recommended pathway for your consideration.

We will then leave the decision in your hands to decide whether you wish to engage Concept Australia as your migration agent.
