Contributory Parent Visas

 
General Criteria
 
 
Contributory Parents have the choice to apply for a permanent or temporary visa and if the primary applicant is old enough to be granted an Australian aged pension there is also the option to be in Australia at the time of lodgement and for the grant of the visa.
 
To be eligible you must have at least half of your children living in Australia permanently or more children living in Australia permanently than any other single country.
 
Parents can be sponsored by a natural child, step-child or adopted child who must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen and settled in Australia for a period of at least 2 years.
 
The following children of both parents are counted in the balance of family test:
  • children from previous marriages or de facto relationships
  • adopted and stepchildren
  • children residing in institutions
  • children who are dependent or self-supporting, single, married or divorced
