Distinguished Talent Visa - Subclass 124
This fact sheet should be read in conjunction with the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) booklet number 8 – Special Migration.
Applicants must demonstrate that they:

have an internationally recognised record of exceptional and outstanding achievement, and are still prominent in a profession, the arts, sport, or research academia

would be an asset to the Australian community (e.g. be able to show how their settlement in Australia could contribute economically, socially or culturally to the nation as a whole – not just a local community

would have no difficulty in obtaining employment or in becoming established independently in Australia in a profession, the arts, sport or research and academia (e.g. be able to establish a viable business in Australia)

would not be financially dependent on the Australian community
Age
If you are aged below 18 or above 55 years of age you would also need to provide evidence that you would be of exceptional benefit to the Australian Community.
Family of the main applicant
If you are under 18 years of age you can include your parents and the family unit of your parents in your application.
Nomination
You must be nominated by an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, eligible New Zealand citizen or an Australian organisation. That person or the organisation (the nominator) must have a national reputation in relation to your field of expertise and should attest to your international standing.
