Australian government reviewing 5 year regional settlement plan

06/09/2018

The Australian government is considering introducing a new plan that would require applicants to settle for up to 5 years outside Sydney and Melbourne.

This new policy proposal is designed to ease congestion in Australia's two largest capital cities where the rate of migrant settlement has reached almost 90%.

The new visa class is expected to apply to certain categories of new arrivals under the skilled and family migration programme with the aim that families are likely to settle and remain in regional Australia after establishing close ties in the community.
